Bob came through! I now have milk!
It apparently came this past Wednesday and the kids brought it into the house while I was at work. I am happy once more.....
Well, there seems to be no milk on my doorstep this morning. I am having coffee without....somehow my most favorite thing about mornings is kinda...uh...yucky. I even reverted to using one of those "flavor" tablets -vanilla?, and a whole little packet of sweetener.
Since having babies, we have always had our milk delivered...one less "thing" to have to remember when you are parents. There is no appeal to running out in 40 below weather in your PJ's. That has been the one constant over the past sixteen years, dependable Bob - The Milkman, every Tuesday by 7AM. No running out to coax a frozen car into action because we forgot to pick up milk on our way home the day before. Sometimes having to use the "backup fridge"...you fellow Canucks know it as the "beer fridge"...because our milk consumption varied from week to week, but our delivery did not. Even forgetting to cancel the scheduled delivery due to vacations and finding the 3 cartons sitting there, spoiled, but still sitting there as promised.
This leads to the reason, at least I believe, of the nonexistent delivery today. Last week we were on vacation. This time I remembered to include a note with my always delinquent payment of my milk account - I am ashamed to say - prior to leaving and also taped a note to the veranda glass....no milk please...in case somehow he did not get my carefully worded request, along with my cheque, and delivered in the 35 degree Celsius weather, (I want fresh milk - not cheese).Is it possible that Bob thought I was cancelling the milk delivery altogether? After sixteen years of unwaivering service? Even in 40 below weather and sweltering heat? With two teenage boys in the house? And my coffee with milk addiction? NO!
Come back to us Bob...we..I need you. I cannot exist without my morning cup of coffee.....
